Mayor Fenty Delivers 11th Straight Balanced Budget

Today, Mayor Adrian M. Fenty submitted his proposed budget for FY 2008, keeping his promise of no new taxes with the 11th consecutive balanced budget for the District of Columbia.

Of significant note, the Fenty budget fully funds the Mayor’s school plan, funds 300 new police officers for the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), and increases funds for programs that provide low-income heating assistance, help for families in need, foster care programs, and senior wellness centers, while at the same time reducing citywide residential property taxes.
