A RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To declare the existence of an emergency with respect to the need to prohibit the issuance of permits allowing the construction or expansion of any telecommunications tower which will reach a height of 150 feet or more, until the Mayor formulates a policy on the location and other parameters for construction of telecommunications structures and the Council has approved the policy.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited as the "Moratorium on the Construction of Certain Telecommunications Towers Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2001".

Sec. 2. (a) There exists an immediate crisis regarding the need for a moratorium on the issuance of permits allowing the construction or expansion of telecommunications towers which will reach a height of 150 feet or more, until the Mayor formulates a policy on the -location and other parameters for construction of the telecommunications structures.

Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia determines that the circumstances enumerated in section 2 constitute emergency circumstances making it necessary that the Moratorium on the Construction of Certain Telecommunications Towers Emergency Amendment Act of 2001 be adopted after a single reading.

Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.
