A RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

Chairman Cropp introduced the following resolution which was referred to the Committee on Public Works and the Environment.

To approve the proposal of the District of Columbia Taxicab Commission to authorize the use of a metered system for determining taxicab fares.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited as the "District of Columbia Taxicab Commission Metered System for Determining Fares Approval Resolution of 1999".

Sec. 2. Pursuant to section 8(b)(1)(B) of the District of Columbia Taxicab Commission Establishment Act of 1985, effective March 25, 1986 (D.C. Law 6-97; D.C. Code, sec. 40-1707 (1998 Repl. Vol.)), the Council approves the proposal submitted by the District of Columbia Taxicab Commission for the use of meters for determining taxicab fares.

Sec. 3. The Council shall transmit a copy of this resolution, upon its adoption, to the Chairperson of the District of Columbia Taxicab Commission.

Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately the upon the first date of publication in the District of Columbia Register.
