PROJECT PROPOSAL SUMMARY
FOR
A PROPOSAL TO SELL PROPERTY LOCATED IN SQUARE 4107, LOTS 227 AND 900, AND SQUARE 4103, LOTS 826 AND 827, ON W STREET, N.E., SUBMITTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH D.C. LAW 8-96

I. DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY

A. SQUARE 4107 and 4103
B. WARD 5
C. SIZE 137,308
D. ZONING CM/Langdon Overlay
E. VALUE $315,000

II. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSAL

Crane Rental proposes to acquire this vacant property to expand its equipment rental and storage business. Crane Rental is a family owned business which has been located in the District for 58 years. Crane rents and stores construction equipment, including cranes, rigging and trucks. Crane owns the adjacent property and needs to acquire the District's property to allow it to expand its business and remain in the District.

III. PROPOSAL BENEFITS

Sale of this property to Crane Rental Company will allow the company to remain in the District of Columbia. It will bring marginally developable land, which has been off the District's tax roles for 13 years, back into a paying status. Tax revenues of approximately $30,000 per year would be generated. In addition, Crane Rental currently employs approximately 45 people. The expansion is expected to create an additional 20 to 25 jobs. Crane is committed to providing employment to District residents.

IV. REQUIRED PUBLIC ACTION

The public actions required for disposition are: 1) public hearing and 2) execution of sales documents.
