D.C. Financial Authority and Greater Southeast Community Healthcare
Corporation Agree to Send Proposed Health Care Contract For the District to the Mayor
Washington, D.C. - The District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and Management
Assistance Authority ("Authority") today announced it has reached agreement on a
proposed contract with the Greater Southeast Community Hospital Corporation to provide
healthcare to the city's uninsured residents. The proposed contract will be forwarded to
the Mayor for his consideration later this week. "We are pleased to forward to the
Mayor a contract for a comprehensive new approach to health care delivery for our city's
most vulnerable residents,"said Authority Chair Alice M. Rivlin.
"We believe strongly that this plan will result in greatly improved health care
for the uninsured residents of the District," she said. The Authority agreed to
forward the plan to the Mayor in its regular Board meeting on Wednesday. The Mayor and the
Council of the District of Columbia will now have the opportunity consider the proposed
contract. This agreement does not constitute final agency action by the Authority.
The Council will be briefed on the provisions of the proposed contract on Friday
morning. |
