U.S. Capitol Police and U.S. Park Police Unions Endorse Schwartz for Mayor

(Washington, DC) Today, the Fraternal Order of Police unions for the United States Capitol Police and the United States Park Police, representing more than a thousand uniformed public safety servants, endorsed Carol Schwartz for Mayor. This endorsement comes just two days after the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fraternal Order of Police also endorsed Schwartz.

"We feel without question that Carol Schwartz will effectively and equally serve all the citizens of the District of Columbia," said L.J. Capps, Chairman of the United States Park Police Fraternal Order of Police. Mike DeCarlo, Chairman of the U.S. Capitol Police Labor Committee said, "The Capitol Police want to continue to reach out to the local community, and we feel Carol Schwartz is the best candidate to improve this partnership."

Ms. Schwartz said, "I felt thrilled with Wednesday’s endorsement by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fraternal Order of Police and the Emergency Medical Technician’s union, and I am so grateful for today’s endorsement by the U.S. Capitol and Park Police unions." Schwartz added, "The men and women of D.C.’s law enforcement community are saying that we need new leadership to better serve and protect the residents of this city."

Also offering support for Carol Schwartz’s candidacy were Reverend Maxwell Washington, former President of the Baptist Ministers Conference, and former Councilmember Reverend Jerry Moore. Washington said, "Carol Schwartz cares about the people of this city, and it is time we move beyond labels of Democrat, Republican, black, white, male, female, and vote for the best person." Reverend Moore said, "Carol Schwartz is a person of ethical integrity and dynamic vision."

Schwartz said, "The support of religious leaders in our community is very dear and meaningful to me, and I thank them for it."
