Adrian Fenty Transition Plan
- Open and Inclusive Like the campaign, which was based on walking every street, knocking on every door and listening to everyone along the way, the Fenty Transition will be open and inclusive.
- Most participatory transition ever Our goal is nothing less than to have the most participatory and inclusive transition in the District and perhaps the nation's history.
- Build off the success of the pre-transition The Transition will build off the remarkable success of the Pre-Transition activity, which involved more than 1,000 people working on and discussing 15 issue areas.
- Six Transition Themes It will further focus those efforts around six key transition issue themes:
- Schools and Education
- Public Safety
- Healthcare
- Human Services
- Economic Development and Affordable Housing
- Environment and Infrastructure
- Issues transition Co-Chairs Lightfoot & Hudson The issues transition will be co-chaired by Bill Lightfoot and James Hudson.
- Each area will be led by a respected issue leader The names will be announced next week.
- E Transition Instead of leading small hand-picked teams, the issues chairs will moderate a public discourse that will take place through our transition web site:
www.Fentytransition.org
- Ward Townhall Meetings In addition, over the next several weeks, the Transition will host eight town halls - one in each ward - and will explore other ways to include those who may not have access to the Internet. Townhall meetings will allow people to work to develop solutions to issues.
- Agency-by-agency core transition analysis At the same time the issues transition effort is underway, we will conduct an agency-by-agency core transition analysis examining all facets from performance to leadership.
- Examine every agency Led by transition staff, this effort will look at every agency, its structure; budget, staffing and key issue areas.
- Provide a roadmap The product of these parallel efforts will be an action plan for the Fenty Administration that will provide a roadmap for both Leading and Governing the District Government.
- Fenty Transition Incorporated The transition activity will be organized under a 501c4, Fenty Transition Incorporated.
- Donations will be accepted Both direct and in-kind donations will be accepted to support this effort and provide professional and staff support.
- What can you do? Our vision for making the District a world-class city will not happen without the energy and the hope that lies within each of us. Let us work together toward building a brighter and better future for all us!
