News Release for Immediate Release Mayor's Health Care Task Force Issues Draft ReportContact (Media Only): Vince Morris (202) 727-5011; Sharon Gang (202) 727-5011; Leila Abrar, DOH, (202) 841-9232 (Washington, DC) Mayor Anthony A. Williams announced today that he had received a draft report from the Health Care Task Force, which he established to examine alternatives to improving health care in a way that is fiscally sound and beneficial to residents of the District of Columbia, especially those living in the eastern quadrants of the city. Pane, and the staff of the Department of Health whose exemplary assistance culminated in a thoughtful review of health care needs and a productive outcome of these deliberations.” In fulfillment of the Mayor’s directives to the Task Force members, dated April 19, 2006, the report presents reasonable alternatives to the original National Capital Medical Center proposal for the construction of a hospital on Reservation 13. The options include:
Mayor Williams said he’d study the options, meet with staff and prepare a recommendation in the next few weeks. |
