"At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 1995, members of the department's Second District arrested 32-year-old Michael McSherry Thompson, without incident, in the 3300 block of Connecticut Avenue, NW. Thompson, who resides in the 1300 block of Clifton Street, NW, was charged with armed robbery with a knife in connection with the robbery of a woman that occurred in the 2600 block of Garfield Street, NW, at 4:30 p.m. on December 15, 1995. His arrest came as a result of the ongoing investigation and operations being conducted by members of the Second District involving a series of armed robberies in the Cleveland Park area. Mr. Thompson, who is also wanted by Delaware authorities for armed robbery and Maryland authorities for parole violations, will be arraigned today in D.C. Superior Court."

According to a Second District source, police are still searching for Edward Leo Bright in connection with the case. Officers picked up Thompson near the corner of Connecticut Avenue, NW, and Macomb Street, NW, because he looked like a composite drawing of Bright. According to police sources, Thompson confessed to two robberies and was identified by two victims. Please note that the police press release indicates that the investigation is ongoing.

Heads up out there!
