LEADING HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVE JOINS DC HEALTHCARE ALLIANCEWashington, DC —A leading healthcare executive from the Johns Hopkins Health System will join Doctors Community Healthcare Corporation (DCHC).Colene Daniel, Vice President of Corporate Services, Community Health and Services at Johns Hopkins Health System and co-chair of the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute, will become the Chief Executive Officer of the DC Healthcare Alliance, the District's healthcare program for residents who lack health insurance. Ms. Daniel will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the DC Healthcare Alliance and will work to strengthen the quality, efficiency and accessibility of public healthcare in the District of Columbia. For over a decade, Ms. Daniel served as Vice President of Corporate Services, Community Health and Services at Johns Hopkins Health System, where she was responsible for various corporate divisions including community grants, purchasing and materials management with a combined budget of over 300 million dollars. Ms. Daniel created the Community Health and Services Department, which provides community healthcare, public health intervention, community health ambulatory services and community leadership services in the areas of redevelopment to improve public housing, public safety, economic development and youth services. In addition, Ms. Daniel co-chaired the Johns Hopkins Urban Health Institute, established to enhance the health status of the East Baltimore community and to develop a national model for using the resources of an academic health center to improve urban health. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Ms. Daniel spent five years as an Associate Director at the University of Chicago Hospitals and six years as a Management Associate at American Medical International, Inc. in Houston, Texas and Saudi Arabia. Ms. Daniel holds a Masters of Public Health degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and a Masters of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration from Texas Woman's University. "Colene's extensive knowledge of the complex issues of urban healthcare will be invaluable to Doctors Community Healthcare and the DC Healthcare Alliance," said Paul R.
