Statement of Grounds for Recall of Marion S. Barry, Jr.,
Mayor of the District of Columbia

He has put the city in a state of receivership: diminishing home rule.

Allows out-of-state transportation for hire (TFH) to commute without collecting fees for mileage.

Does not collect fees, taxes, or fine out-of-state TFH -- at one juncture he stopped the Hack inspectors from issuing citations -- that would amount to millions of dollars that could go towards improving public schools, potholes, employment, police department. . . .

Won't repay $583,000 to the DC Taxicab Drivers Assessment Fund.

Planning to put independent taxicab drivers out-of-business, the same way he is doing the independent tow truck drivers.

Gives city contracts to the same companies, repeatedly, overlooking the minority contractors.

Contract abuse at DHS, resulting in cuts in crucial services for the elderly, and drug treatment programs; creating hardship for welfare recipients, before Welfare Reform.

42% water rate increase: he borrowed money from the Water and Sewer Department, and won't repay it.

Inadequate oversight of the MPD, causing crime rates to escalate.

Continues to appoint/hire unqualified employees for key positions, and still surrounds himself with shady characters, who mean the city no good.

Deceives, reneges on, lies to, and is apathetic towards the residents.
