CITY OF PHILADELPHIA
EDWARD G. RENDELL
MAYOR
October 14, 1998
It is with great pleasure that I endorse Anthony A. Williams in his bid
for Mayor of the District of Columbia.
Throughout his career, Tony has demonstrated a clear understanding of what
it takes to run a government at any level, and the ability to make difficult decisions.
When Tony was named the District's Chief Financial Office in 1993, he had one of the most
daunting tasks that any of us have ever faced in city government. He is credited with
turning the District's finances around, and helping to rescue a city on the brink.
Through his work in the past couple of years, Tony has not only shown the
intellectual capacity required to meet the challenges of government, but also the
discipline and leadership skills that are essential to take a city into the 21st century.
Tony's dedication day in and out is proof of his commitment to a mission that he truly
believes in rescuing a city and a community that must be saved.
Tony has already proven to the people of Washington, D.C., and nation that
he has the ability to turn the District around financially. I trust that on November 3,
they will show their support in his ability to continue this mission, and keep the
District on the right track.
Sincerely,
Edward G. Rendell |
