“As Mayor, I will work to ensure that the Senior Citizens of our city enjoy the independence, dignity, quality of life, and sense of security for which they have worked all their lives.”

I strongly support the D.C. Office on Aging. Its Director will be by my side to coordinate quality services for seniors throughout the city.

My administration will be dedicated to quality health care for people with short and long-term needs. I pledge comprehensive services for people who wish to remain living in their own homes.

I support the continuation of tax relief and tax exemptions for senior citizens. I support rent control, the continuation of Metro discounts and taxi vouchers.

The safety and security of our Senior Citizens — in their homes and on out streets — will be a priority of our Police Department. I will make sure that 911 calls are answered immediately and effectively.

The wisdom of our Senior Citizens will be treated as a city treasure. Our seniors’ wealth of experience will be drawn upon to lend assistance to our community, particularly our youth.
