What is he running for? He is running for one of the two At-Large D.C. Council seats. You will vote for two Councilmembers At-Large on the Nov. 3 ballot following the Sept. 15 Primary. Mark Thompson will run unopposed in the Umoja Party Primary in September, and on Nov. 3, you will vote for Thompson and one Democrat, or for Thompson and one other party’s candidate.

What is The Umoja Party? Umoja means unity — the first principle and first day of Kwanzaa. The Umoja Party is for everyone, especially for those who feel ignored by the other political parties. The Umoja Party has the same official status as the other parties. If you are Democrat, Independent, Republican or Statehood, you may vote for Mark Thompson and the Umoja Party Nov. 3.

What do Mark Thompson and the Umoja Party believe in and want? Faith, our foundation of well-being and freedom. Family, real and extended, restored as our priority. Jobs that support families, and businesses that give back to the community. Schools that open on time, and that put our students first. Safety for every area of our city, and a fairer criminal justice system. Homes made available and affordable, while rent control continues. Services delivered efficiently, especially to our seniors and our youth. Health, because cancer, diabetes, AIDS and infant deaths are too prevalent. Democracy for D.C., because what was wrong in 1776, is still wrong today.
