What I Will (continue to) Deliver vs. Delegate Norton’s Record

Residents’ Standard of Living First

Del. Norton during her 4 terms has restricted democracy for DC residents and stuck to her policy of forbidding DC residents to come to Congress to seek redress from state/federal violations.

Execute Bills — Tax/Business Incentives

Del. Norton’s Revitalization Package traded in the $600 million plus federal payment for incentives to DC businesses and new homebuyers. At the same time, the hotel industries, small businesses, and taxpayers have been levied with unforseen taxes for a new Convention Center; obsolete before being built and nonexpandable

Public Education #1, Congress’ Fast-track

Del. Norton, crediting herself with Control Board Appointments; leading to Board of Trustee appointments, has been silent on selling off public facilities quiet on the trustees abuses of power and contract abuses. Voiceless on the created trustee deficit. Actionless after the trustees loss of the civil action to the elected school board.

All Concerned, Team Plan Devoted to Democracy and Revenue Projects to Rejuvenate Residents and the US Nation’s Capitol

Ms. Norton has “circled the wagons” to protect liable city officials and stuck to her policy of forbidding residents to seek congressional intervention and subcommittee hearings. Bills, i.e. H.R. 3396, were introduced To Establish Standards of Conduct for Dept. of Justice Employees, and to establish a review board to monitor compliance with such standards, 3/5/98, by Congressmen Dade and Murtha. Similar bills needed introducing by Del. Norton for DC Police, DC Council, Inspector General, Auditor, the Executive Office of the Mayor, and, specifically, the Office of Corporation Counsel. The Delegate has refused, deferring to DC Council and Homerule. In 1997, the Delegate fought for return of DC’s flawed Confirmation Process without change. Having 4 terms of oversight, the Delegate has failed to execute the Anti-Deficiency Act (ADA) or anything comparable. The Act holds public officials criminally liable for public abuses and overspending.
