CHAVOUS for MAYOR

As a community leader, Kevin Chavous

has provided free legal counsel for civic groups, including Southeast Neighborhood, Inc. and the River Terrace Community Organization. He served as Chairman of the D.C. Statehood Compact Commission and is on the national board of directors for Handgun Control, Inc.

As a city councilman, Kevin Chavous

has sponsored over 130 pieces of legislation, including laws that give community groups the power to shut down crack houses; help rid the city of abandoned cars; and restrict the issuance of new liquor licenses. As Chair of the Council’s Education Committee, he has fought for newer, cleaner and better managed schools throughout the city.

As Mayor, Kevin Chavous

will work to reform city government from top to bottom. His top priority is to improve neighborhood schools, making sure that every child has equal access to a quality education. Kevin will demand a rebuilding of the police department, focusing on making the police more responsive to the communities they serve. And he will improve the delivery of city services, making our government more user-friendly.
