We
are supporting working families. Today,
we are building affordable homes for more than 12,000 families
across the city. And over the next four years we are going to
invest even more resources to make housing affordable and
available to more DC residents.
We are doing right
by our children.
Today, we are using $47 million to rebuild playgrounds, recreation
centers and ball fields in all the Wards. And we are going to keep
working hard to give our children safe places to play.
We are
fighting to provide quality health care.
Where once the uninsured had to rely on emergency room care, today
more than 27,000 residents are enrolled in a primary care health
plan. And we are going to continue to extend these programs to
make sure quality health care is a right and not a privilege.
We are making
education a top priority.
Today, more than 11,500 children are enrolled in after-school
programs. And we are going to work relentlessly to help reduce
class size and make sure that all our children are getting the
kind of education they deserve.
We are
investing in DC. Today, we
have paved over 2000 city blocks. And we will continue to meet the
traffic and pedestrian needs of every part of the city.
We are making our
city safe. Today,
we have reduced crime across the city. And we are going to
continue to attack the problem of crime with more cops on the
streets and a concerted effort to combat the roots of criminal
behavior - drugs, poverty and lack of opportunity. |
