Us
"We
can do better. We can take care of business and take care
of people. We can do both with competent, compassionate
leadership." —Carol Schwartz |

People
speak out for Carol...
Many
Democrats across the city believe that Schwartz is more in tune
with the needs and aspirations of the people."
—Washington Afro American
Newspaper, 9/28/02
Carol's
got my support because each and every citizen of DC has her ear
— she listens to everyone. She knows neighborhoods, like
Brightwood, Anacostia, Brookland, and Hillcrest better than most
of us do. Carol is not only one of us, she cares about every
resident. Carol Schwartz has earned my vote!"
—James Wilson, Ward 5 Democrat, 44-year District resident
I've known Carol for 30 years. She has been
consistently honest, open, eating, capable and responsive. Because
of her impeccable record she has earned the respect of the total
community, her integrity intact. We need Carol to be our Mayor.
She certainly has my vote and support."
—Lorraine Whitlock, Ward 7 Democrat; Convener of the Dearwood
Gardens Alliance; Lifetime District resident
Carol
has an unblemished political record and history She pours her
heart out to all people. Carol is an ideal candidate for
Mayor."
—Conrad
P Smith, Ward 1 Democrat; 50-year District

Carol's early
endorsements...
The Current
Newspapers
(Northwest, Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Foggy Bottom)
"Mrs.
Schwartz is far better suited to move the District forward... Mrs.
Schwartz would be a superior manager."
—Current
Newspapers, 10/9/02
The
InTowner Newspaper
"She's
an incredibly savvy person who understands the fine points of
municipal government... With her many years of public service, as
a member of the school board and as a member of the city council,
she understands those challenges and has, in our opinion, the
skill, perseverance, and depth of knowledge to make her an
outstanding mayor for this city."
—The InTowner, 10/11/02
GLAA (Gay and Lesbian Activist Alliance) gives Carol a high

In
Carol's own words...
From
her announcement speech of 9/26/02
"...this
is still a deeply troubled and divided city. Tony Williams'
stewardship has been marred by ethical lapses, questionable
judgment and a cold lack of compassion for our poorest and most
helpless citizens. "
"Ask
the voters in Ward 7... Ask them if their lives have improved, if
their schools have improved, and ask them if they have better
hospitals and health can; than they did four years ago."
"The
tangible difference between Anthony Williams and myself is my
vision for the city, my commitment to this city, my passion for
all the people of this city and the quality of leadership I have
demonstrated over the course of my long public career. As all of
you know, I have never been afraid to say what I believed should
be said, nor to fight for those whom rights were in jeopardy or
for those whose needs were not being met."
"Keeping
our home values up is a worthy goal. In fact, the Council's
tax-reduction policies helped get those values up. I am a D.C.
homeowner, and have been since 1968, and I share that goal. But
there must be more. There must be affordable housing for those who
hung in there with us during the tough times and are now being
priced out."
"With your help and your support, I pledge
that we will do better to make this--the world's greatest
capital city and beloved home to so many of us--a model for
competent and compassionate good government serving the needs and
aspirations of all our people."
"If all the people who voted for me
before, vote for me; if all the people who asked me to run, vote
for me; if all the people who have said over the years that they
regretted not voting for me, vote for me; and if all the people
who want me to win, but who are afraid I won't win, vote for me...
I can win-we can win."

"It's
time we had a Mayor who actually delivers on the last campaign's
promises of competence and high ethics. I'm supporting Carol
Schwartz because her record demonstrates
real concern about DC's neighborhoods, not just the lip service we
hear from Tony Williams. With
Carol as Mayor, I'm confident we'll finally get
to see attention paid to what neighborhoods need and want.
—Alan Roth, Ward 1 Democrat;
Commissioner, ANC 1C01, 16-year
District resident
"[Carol Schwartz] has high name recognition and is a strong
campaigner, with a record of winning citywide races
and of strong service on both the school board and council.
Unlike Mr. Williams, she has not been dogged by
scandal, such as widespread fraud and forgery in nominating
petitions or the kind of ethical lapses that earned
the mayor fines by the city's campaign office.
—The
Washington Post, 9/28/02
"There
is no reason not to vote for Carol Schwartz there is every reason
to vote for her. Carol's compassionate high ethical standards,
capable and experienced leadership, and commitment to our city
have been prove beyond
a doubt. She's always been our leader—now let's make her our
Mayor."
—Ann McLaughlin Korologos, Ward 2 Republican; Former
Secretary, US Dept. of Labor, Former President, Federal City
Council; 31-year District resident
"Voting
for Carol shouldn't be hard for Democrats; doing the right thing
can be quite liberating!"
