Order of Police, EMT’s Endorse Schwartz for Mayor

(Washington, DC) Today, the Fraternal Order of Police and the local Emergency Medical Technician’s union endorsed Mayoral Candidate Carol Schwartz. Sgt. Gerald G. Neill, Jr., Chairman of the Fraternal Order of Police Union, representing more than 3,000 officers and sergeants in the Metropolitan Police Department said, "Carol’s years of experience in public offices here are coupled with a community bond that is sorely lacking in the present administration." Sgt. Neill also said, "The present mayor has brought in highly paid strangers to our city and its unique form of government. He has assembled a team of articulate professional bureaucrats who serve him and themselves, without concern about the men, women and children that I and my fellow officers know and serve on a daily basis."

Also endorsing Ms. Schwartz today is the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 3721 union of Emergency Medical Technicians. AFGE Local 3721 President Kenneth Lyons said, "Ms. Schwartz is a true supporter from cradle to grave in that she cares about children, the elderly and everyone in between. She has supported car safety legislation and has a solid record of support for the Emergency Medical System and its employees."

Ms. Schwartz said, "I am so pleased with the strong endorsements of D.C.’s finest. All is not well with our city, and it is obvious that those who serve and protect our residents feel disconnected from this Mayor and his administration. We can connect all of us to begin to improve the care and safety of our residents."
