HECTOR RODRIGUEZ
Democrat For City Council Ward 1
Empower Our Families

Hector Rodriguez: The Man
Leader. Visionary. Bridge builder. Patriot. Businessman. Father

"What I Believe"

"I believe in the family as the foundation of Ward one. Today many of our families are at risk under constant assault on many fronts. We must provide social and economic stability for our families. Our children need a nurturing environment to learn and to grow. We must secure our prosperity, educate our children and protect our homes.

I believe that all men are born equally free and independent under God and have certain inherent rights. I believe that an power is vested in, and consequently derived from the people. I believe in an integrated and inclusive, not fragmented government and society. I believe in a stable broad consensus as the foundation for our political system.

I am driven by a durable and strong loyalty to our government and our nation. I believe in the application of civil procedures and the management of conflict. I believe that nurturing trust between the various social/economic groups is very important for our stability. I believe in majority rule and minority rights.

As my family has, I too have dedicated my life to the service of others. I believe that service to our fellow man and our community is a fulfilling and worthy life. Good Americans and good Democrats stand up for the needy and the fallen, the underserved. We must reconnect as humanity - we must restore the promise.

Ward One is a strategic multicultural/economic asset for our city. This campaign unites our cultural diversity and professional talents into a partnership: to improve the quality of our lives, to foster quality education, to foster economic growth, to celebrate freedom for all. We can raise the standard for progress and inclusion in this ward. WE can be number 1!"

I have no self-interest but the well being of my constituents. I am a Democrat but I will not vote blindly. I pledge to you that I will always vote my conscience.

In the Spirit of Unity

Empowering our Youth

Council Rodriguez Rodriguez Proposes "DC Youth Empowerment Act"
Establishing Youth Development agency with Cabinet level director.

Youth: Our youth are under assault in the streets from drug predators and other criminal elements. They lack educational resources in our schools or for higher education. They need. more doses of love, participation and support from all sectors.

In spite of these obstacles, except for a small minority, most of our youth are great achievers in our city and they must be recognized as important citizens in our current and future success. We must forge a new model for their participation, leadership and empowerment.
