A PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To confirm the appointment of Ms. Oramenta F. Newsome to the Comprehensive Housing Strategy Task Force.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited as the "Comprehensive Housing Strategy Task Force Oramenta F. Newsome Confirmation Resolution of 2004".

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

as a member of the Comprehensive Housing Strategy Task Force, established by section 2 of the Comprehensive Housing Strategy Temporary Act of 2003, effective December 9, 2003 (D.C. Law 15-52), representing the philanthropic community, for a term to end I-year from the date a majority of the first members are sworn-in.

Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution, upon its adoption, each to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor. 

Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

ORAMENTA F. NEWSOME

Oramenta F. Newsome is the Director of the Washington, DC office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). Oramenta has been working in the field of community development for over 20 years. Prior to joining LISC, Oramenta worked for the Enterprise Foundation, the City of Fort Worth Texas, and Cobb County, Georgia. She was a Fannie Mae Fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Executives and a Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation Emerging Leader. Ms. Newsome is a graduate of Leadership Washington, a member of the Class of 1999. Mayor Williams selected Ms. Newsome to receive the 2003 Mayor's Quality Partner Award as one of the City's Caring for Children Champions.

Ms. Newsome is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the DC Agenda and serves on the board of directors of the Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington, the Washington Area Housing Partnership and Washington Area Housing Trust. She serves on the Washington Business Journal's Advisory Board.

Ms. Newsome holds a Bachelors of Science in Public Administration from Auburn University and a Masters of Science in Community Development and Planning from Georgia State University.
