A PROPOSED RESOLUTION IN THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

To confirm the appointment of Ms. Kumiki Gibson to the Washington Convention Center Board of Directors.

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this resolution may be cited as the Washington Convention Center Authority Board of Directors Kumiki Gibson Confirmation Resolution of 1999.

Sec. 2. The Council of the District of Columbia confirms the appointment of:

(Ward 1)

as a public member of the Washington Convention Center Authority Board of Directors, established by section 205 of the Washington Convention Center Authority Act of 1994, effective September 28, 1994 (D.C. Law 10-188; D.C. Code §9-806), replacing Harold W. Johnson, whose term ended May 16, 1999, for a term to end May 16, 2003.

Sec. 3. The Council of the District of Columbia shall transmit a copy of this resolution, upon its adoption, each to the nominee and to the Office of the Mayor.

Sec. 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately.

Current practice includes representing clients in criminal matters and civil actions (e.g., defending a Fortune 500 company in two class action discrimination cases and litigating a libel case on behalf of a national news magazine) and advising corporate clients on equal employment issues.

The Office of the Vice President, The White House, April 1993 to April 1997

Counsel to the Vice President. Advised the Vice President and his staff on legal matters and various policy issues (including economic development, urban, and regulatory reform issues). Served as Associate Counsel from April 1993 to January 1995.

U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division/Criminal Section, April 1992 to April 1993

Trial Attorney. Investigated and prosecuted violations of federal criminal civil rights laws, including developing a novel criminal case based on the Fair Housing Act.

Associate. Practice devoted primarily to managing and litigating complex product liability cases.
